“Rowing for Leadership” - a seminar to promote social responsibility and leadership

On a Friday morning, one spring day, our exceptional students set out to stretch their limits.

On a warm and pleasant day in March 2009 the program’s students took part in a thrilling seminar on leadership along with the “Safe Future” foundation, on the Yarkon River, in Tel Aviv.

The seminar was held at the “Daniel Rowing Center” on the banks of the Yarkon River. As part of the seminar, the students rowed together in “Dragon” series boats. The “Dragon” is a long, narrow boat with up to 10 rowers, who row in coordination to a beat, set by a drum.

The experience of rowing together depends especially on the cooperation between the rowers on the team. Teams who work together and row at the same pace can achieve considerable speeds in a relatively short space of time. Coordination, rhythm, cooperation and team work are the keys to successful rowing.

Within the framework of the seminar, the students had to cope with the physical demands of the rowing and benefited from the cooperation and consolidation of the team.
