The Friends of Raveh Ravid Fund, is pointing out these days our third year of fruitful activity. The Fund is awarding comprehensive scholarships to exceptional students from the periphery in Israel that demonstrates leadership potential and academic excellence, along with the warm cooperation of the University of Haifa.
The Friends of Raveh Ravid Fund, with the cooperation of the University of Haifa, is nurturing 28 outstanding students from the periphery, which study in a wide range of disciplines and are required to meet high standards of academic excellence, intensive social activity and leadership abilities.
During 2009, the Fund emphasizes significant progress in the students' social and communal responsibility:
• JDC Israel (Joint Israel) – The Fund has a promising cooperation with the proficient organization, in which our students become active partners in advancing various social issues in northern Israel. The students lead valuable processes in the northern cities; inter alia in dealing with preventing young population from deserting the north in favor of the central areas of Israel; and essential activity promoting education and environmental issues.
• Cooperation with Moshe Fund from Genève – the Moshe Fund has generously decided to support our activity, sharing the will to promote young promising leaders that will participate in a long term social activity. Our hope is to reach a complete mutual and prosperous cooperation in the future.
• International Symposium in Tufts University- The Institute for Global Leadership (IGL) in Tufts University in Boston has invited 5 excellent students from the Friends of Raveh Ravid program to participate its annual international symposium, to be held on Feb. 2010 in Tufts University. The symposium's agenda will include issues of global leadership and its implementation towards solving worldwide problems. The Institute's generous offer includes the students' full accommodation and hospitality in the University. We see great importance in the participation of our students in this symposium, which will widen their horizons. Both IGL and the Friends of Raveh Ravid Fund share the desire to begin a mutual, fruitful and long lasting cooperation.
• The Fund welcomes the new students – Eight new promising students have joined our program, on October 2009. The students, who are coming from different peripheral areas of the country, represent high level of quality, fulfillment and aspiration for a genuine social change. They are joining the 20 senior students, which are starting their 2nd and 3rd year in the University.
The Friends of Raveh Ravid Fund is funded by contributions from friends and supporters. All the contributions are dedicated directly to financing the students' tuition. Raveh-Ravid & Co. and the University of Haifa cover all the administrative expenses related to the Fund and its activities.
We highly appreciate your support of the Fund. We hope to see you again among our supporters next year.
